The CfSA Kitemark

Recognising excellence in subject association work
The CfSA Kitemark is our accreditation for member Subject Associations who have demonstrated sustained excellence across a range of criteria, from membership and governance to advocacy, resources, and teacher development.
It’s a mark that tells members, schools, policymakers, and partners: this organisation does excellent work, consistently, over time.
What does the Kitemark recognise?
To receive the Kitemark, a Subject Association must provide evidence — over a minimum of three years — that they:
- are a constituted, independent membership organisation with a clear mission
- have an active governing body
- engage regularly with CfSA activities and events
- work to influence government and policy on behalf of their members
- keep members informed on policy, research, and professional development
- provide a community through events, conferences, and networks
- produce and share high-quality, research-informed resources
- contribute to teacher training and development
- stay current with new thinking, new technologies, and the changing education landscape
- work with subject experts and leaders to continuously improve their offer
