Salary: £7,202- £8,320 per annum (£27-£31k FTE (dependent on experience

The Council for Subject Associations is looking for a Membership and Communications Officer to support the day to day running of the volunteer led Council for Subject Associations. This role requires experience of managing charity governance, finance records, updating websites, and supporting marketing and communications.
This is a key position with the responsibility of running the virtual office, supporting our voluntary Chair, Vice-Chair and Directors and communicating with our Subject Association Members and Associate Members.
About the Organisation:
The CfSA is an umbrella organisation, independent of Government, which represents its member subject associations nationally and can speak with a single voice on key issues and consultations.
Members of the CfSA benefit from a unified voice, representing Subject Associations in informing educators, policy makers and media about research and professional practice informed approaches to the curriculum, pedagogy, teacher training and professional development.
Purpose of the Role:
To support the day-to-day operations, administration, communications, and member engagement of CfSA, ensuring our charity is well-run, well-represented, and responsive to our members’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Operations
- Committee administration (booking and preparing for meetings, producing reports and papers, minuting, and meeting follow-up).
- Manage charity filings and financial reporting to Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Support the planning and delivery of CfSA events including our AGM, conferences, and member sessions.
- Tracking and processing membership, paying invoices, attending CfSA finance committee meetings and administering the CfSA’s finances (including preparation of simple reports for Board meetings).
- Collect and process post on a bi-monthly basis (currently located in Leicester however location can be amended to suit a successful candidate).
Member Services
- Act as the main point of contact for all member enquiries
- Onboard new members and manage renewals
- Maintain accurate records of member contact and subscription information
- Update and distribute the CfSA Member Directory regularly
Marketing & Communications
- Help to implement the agreed communications strategy (in consultation with the Board of Directors).
- Support the development of CfSA’s brand and key messaging.
- Write and publish member newsletters and digital updates.
- Produce promotional content and media releases as needed.
Website and Social Media
- Maintain and update CfSA’s website content and structure.
- Promote CfSA activities and member updates online.
- Monitor and post content to CfSA’s social media platforms – including LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook and X.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent written communication and proofreading ability.
- Ability to work independently, manage time and meet deadlines.
- Confident user of social media, with a track record of building and maintaining online communities.
- Proven ability to deliver varied marketing and comms activity across digital channels.
- Confidence with digital platforms (e.g. WordPress, X, LinkedIn, Canva, etc.)
- Experience in stakeholder engagement or member relations.
- Competency in basic financial tasks (budget tracking, invoicing).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working in a charity or membership organisation.
- Familiarity with charity reporting requirements (Charity Commission, Companies House).
- Graphic design or content creation skills (e.g., Canva).
- Knowledge or interest in education.

- Friendly, professional, and confident communicator.
- Creative and critical thinker.
