Join the CfSA

The Council for Subject Associations (CfSA) brings together subject associations from across education in England, giving them a stronger, collective voice. If your organisation supports subject expertise, teaching, and learning, we’d love to have you on board.

Membership Grades

We offer two membership grades: Full Membership and Associate Membership.

Full Membership

Who is it for?  Full membership is for subject associations that:

  • have a major focus on the teaching of a subject in schools, colleges, or other educational settings
  • are themselves membership organisations for subject specialists (i.e. your members include teachers, educators, schools, or teacher training institutions)
  • are independent of government, not-for-profit, and have an elected governing body

What do Full Members get?

  • Invitations to all CfSA conferences and workshops throughout the year
  • Voting rights at the CfSA AGM
  • A listing in the CfSA directory under your subject heading
  • A dedicated profile page on the CfSA website
  • Opportunities to collaborate and partner with CfSA and fellow members
  • Eligibility to apply for the CfSA Kitemark after three years of continuous membership

Associate Membership

Who is it for? Associate membership is for organisations that support subjects in schools and educational settings, but also may not meet all the criteria for full membership,  for example, if you don’t have individual members, or your work spans multiple subjects rather than one.

What do Associate Members get?

  • Invitation to one CfSA conference per year
  • A listing in the CfSA directory under the associate members section
  • A dedicated profile page on the CfSA website
  • Opportunities to collaborate and partner with CfSA and fellow members

Fees

Annual membership fees are based on the size of your organisation:

 Annual Fee
Organisations with 1,000 or more members£450
Organisations with fewer than 1,000 members£250

Smaller organisations applying for Associate Membership may apply for a reduced fee. These requests are considered individually by the membership sub-committee,  just mention it in your application.

  2. Complete Section 1: this is required for all applicants
