Association for Citizenship Teaching – ACT’s Quality Standard: a curriculum improvement tool – 30th September 2024

September 30 : 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

About this event
Would you like to develop a whole school role? Looking to gain accreditation for your Citizenship department? Join this introductory session to find out about the Quality Standard from ACT.

Workshop participants will learn about ACT’s quality standard process and how to achieve awards for their settings. This process offers valuable feedback on your curriculum’s strengths and areas for improvement. Participants are encouraged to complete the National Citizenship Education Survey before the session, receiving tailored feedback and curriculum development guidance. Here’s why this tool is valuable for your school:

Personalised feedback: Receive a bespoke report outlining your provision’s strengths, areas for development, and suggested resources to support improvement.
Evidence and achievement: The report helps you demonstrate the effectiveness of your school’s Citizenship provision and guides you towards achieving even better outcomes.
Help us provide a national picture: Your participation helps our research team at Middlesex University gather vital information to form a national perspective. Your insights may help shape future education policy and funding opportunities.

Who is it for?
Taking on the Quality standard would be an excellent appraisal target for a UPS teacher or head of department. Aspiring senior leaders can use this as a model for curriculum research and whole-school responsibility.

Why attend?
By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Understand the Quality Standard Process
  • See the impact that the process can have on curriculum development
  • Learn more about recent research into school ethos and why it’s important to implement into your setting
  • Gain experience of leading a whole school project
