| Outline This article in 'Teaching History' – the Historical Association journal for secondary teachers – explores the difficulty in getting pupils to understand that different people interpret the past in different ways, depending on their own prejudices and intentions. It is a difficult concept to come to grips with, but it is essential for community cohesion that pupils understand that different people may perceive the same event from a different perspective, and that this will influence the 'big picture' they have of this country's history.
